Sit down, relax and leave the photography to me. Have a glass of wine. Eat some chocolate. I’ll play with your kids and have a great time with them while snapping away watching them play and camp it up and be who they are. It’s all okay. I photograph kids being kids. They don’t need to behave or sit still or smile or anything else. I’ve made beautiful pictures of kids crying. I capture life and your family as art.
Here’s my secret, (shhhhh…) Life is amazing. So are your kids, just as they are… That is all.
With kids under one year old, still have the glass of wine. But stand behind me and make faces and get your child’s attention and make them giggle and coo.
As for location, you kids are more comfortable and laid back in the house where they live. So, I prefer to photograph them there. Don’t worry if your house is big or small. I can work in any space. Do pay attention to the light in your house. When do you get direct light from outside? Is the light really bright or dimmed? What times is it bright or dimmed. That kind of thing. Let me know about it. That way we can come up with the perfect time to photograph your kids inside or outdoors.
We can also meet at a beautiful location: somewhere with flowers in fresh bloom, right after a snowfall, parks, bridges or my house. It’s all good. It’s been my experience that kids are less amped up when they’re in their own space. But it isn’t necessary. Family pictures can be better when you’re all playing in a field. I can make anything look good. Really.
Infants should be photographed in your home. If we’re photographing your infant naked, or lightly clothed, be sure to turn the heat up in your house an hour before the scheduled time for the shoot.
When I arrive at the location of the shoot, I will spend 10 minutes or so wandering around shooting things (some of your kids or not) to test light. It’s okay. Don’t worry about me. I’m just looking to see what I see. Have that glass of wine…
After your photo shoot I will edit your photos and get a disc burned for you which I can mail or drop off within two weeks. Your disc will contain over 40 images that can be printed 14″x20″ or larger.
